INOVA Hospitals recently issued a policy limiting maternity patients to 1 visitor during the flu season. Unfortunately, this policy affects doulas, who will now be excluded from the birth team unless they are the sole support person.

We believe doulas are not visitors, but are a critical part of the birth team. We believe that doulas are trained professionals who provide support before, during, and after labor. We believe they play an important role in a successful birth outcome.
